Ok, so over the past week and a bit ive been watching this Japanese television drama titled 'One Litre of Tears'. "This beautifully moving drama is based on the real-life struggles of a 15-year-old girl named Aya who suffered from an incurable disease, but lived life to the fullest until her death at 25. The script is based on the diary Aya kept writing until she could no longer hold a pen. The book that later followed entitled “One Litre of Tears" has sold over 1.1 million copies in Japan alone."
At 2005 Aya's diary has sold more than 8 million copies world wide. I wont spoil the rest of the story, i dont want to give too much away.
This story is truly touching and has changed my life in many ways. It has its happy moments and sad and how i hate to admit it ive cried many times watching it :'(. I would seriously recommend you if your thinking about it, to watch this series, its very touching.
Watching got me thinking, every person out there has their own story, no matter how big or how small, lives everyday. Through out her life all Aya wanted to do was to help people around her, she wanted to become just like her mother a nurse (health consultant) after she graduated from one of japans top high schools. But during her second year she discovered she had this incurable disease. The disease made her sacrifice many things her sport, love, social activities, and eventually her ability to walk, speak or eat properly with out the help of others. Aya had to give up her dream, realising that she could never fulfill it, but she is happy because her younger sister promises to follow out her dreams. 'Isnt it better that i could hand over my dream to someone else, one which i had to give up'. Her words are so wise for her young age, me being the same age as she was when writing some of her diary, i know that i couldnt of been able to do what she has done. I could go on and on but ill leave the rest for you to find out ;) i think ive spoiled enough.
Thank you aya, you dream has come true in the end, you have helped people, inspired them, you've made me a better person and given me a new out look on life. For that i thank you. I hope where ever you are you are happy and know that you've touched so many others.
